FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions – Business Portraits & Headshots

1) How much can I expect to pay?

You can expect to pay anything between £60 and £900 depending on the service you choose, where you wish to be photographed, and frequency of your sessions

2) How do I know whether to go for editorial or standard style shot?

Your web developer or designer might have a preference depending on the pages he or she is putting together for you. If you want a photo for a simple staff listing or a whos-who on a web site, then you might want to go for the standard headshot on a white or black background. If you are looking for a photograph that needs to tell a story or give some background as to what you do, then the editorial option is great.

3) I want to be photographed at another location to my normal business address – is this possible?

Absolutely. Not every work environment, lends itself visually, to the important or creative work you might get involved in, so choosing a location shoot could be the answer. If you are an architect, you might want your photograph to take place with your work present in the background, or you may wish to be photographed in that new atrium you are really proud of.

4) I dont have a clue what to wear!

That’s fine, just call me and I can happily advise you. We would usually meet in advance of the shoot anyway, so I can suggest alternatives at this meeting. Certain colours work well but it does depend on where you are photographed and what sort of message you want to portray to your audience.

5) I’m unsure what will look best – can you photograph me in two different outfits?

Yes. This is often the case, even if you just want the choice between a shirt or a jacket, or with or without a tie. After all, when you choose your final images, you might want one of each depending on how you plan to use the image.

6) I want a standard package, but what if I can’t choose which picture I like?

All packages include the option to purchase additional photographs.

7) I can’t afford a photographer. Can I not do it myself?

Sometimes, yes! I have written a blog post called “what does your headshot say about you?” Check it out, as it gives lots of tips on how to get that perfect shot.

8) I want to look really important and I don’t work in the City – Can you do this?

There are various methods I use to make a subject appear senior or authoritative, so yes, I can.

9) I want an editorial service but my work space is a mess / boring..

That’s fine. We simply find a suitable space or location and shoot the photograph there. There are lots of options available and I’ll be happy to suggest these for you at our meeting.

10) I dont have an office building of my own but I want to give a corporate impression. What do I do?

Easy – again, there are lots of options available and I can show you examples of this kind of work when we meet.

11) There are 12 people in our team and we all need profile shots for the website – do you charge per photo or can I get a deal?

Happily I can give you an hourly rate for numbers of staff and per member, it can often work out around a third of the price of a single headshot, so the more the better!

12) I want to make sure I look my best. How can I guarantee this on the day?

For ladies, professional hair and make-up is a valuable asset to any portrait, and we can offer this for as little as £40. To look groomed certainly gives you the edge when it comes to networking, and gives the impression of success. Present yourself appropriately and you are onto a winner. Male grooming is also available so please mention this when you call.

13) What happens after my shoot?

Firstly, your images are backed up to ensure they are safe, and the photographer will start the edit process within 2 days of the shoot date. You will receive your proof images via secure download within 3 working days when you will be asked to choose the images you wish to use. Once we have received your choice, the final edit will take place to ensure they look perfect and they will be released within the next 3 days.

14) What exactly do I get and how are my images presented?

All images are presented for download via secure server. You will receive one low resolution image and one high resolution image of each photograph purchased. These final images are uploaded to a secure server and you will be sent a link allowing you to download them at your convenience. You may download them multiple times to multiple devices for no extra charge and the images are available on the server for up to a month.
